Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Yes, this is a month late and no, I was not actually tagged do this but it has always looked fun to me. I don’t have a booktube, but I do have this small blog. Enjoy!

Best book you’ve read so far this year

It was going to be A Court of Silver Flames, but then I read this absolute MASTERPIECE. This book made me cry and I very rarely cry while reading.

Best sequel you’ve read so far this year

Since ACOSF didn’t win best book I’ve read so far this year, it’s winning best sequel. I love Sarah J. Maas’ writing style.

New release you haven’t read but want to

I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue so I’m very excited to read One Last Stop. I don’t have much to say about The Witch King but the cover is gorgeous and we have trans rep, which is great to see.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I’m obsessed with the BBC TV show Merlin and The Other Merlin just gives me good vibes. I’ve read quite a few books by Lisa Jewell lately and I read an excerpt of The Night She Disappeared, the book begins very well. I’m very excited to read the rest of it.

Biggest disappointment

I was told this book was going to make me cry (spoiler alert: it didn’t). It sounded very interesting but there was virtually no plot and the romance just came out of no where. There was absolutely no chemistry between the love interests (I said what I said and I will not be taking it back)

Biggest suprise

Unfortunately, I haven’t really been surprised by any books this year.

Favorite new author (debut or new to you)

Lisa Jewell has definitely become a favorite author of mine this year. I’ve also been enjoying some of Colleen Hoover’s books recently.

Newest fictional crush

I haven’t actually had any “new” fictional crushes at all this year. None of the books I’ve read have had characters that have really made me swoon. I have rediscovered my love for non-canon Luke Castellan (Percy Jackson books), however.

Newest favorite character

Enola Holmes from the Enola Holmes series by Nancy Springer would have to be my newest favorite.

Book that made you cry

I’m going to have to be kind of boring and say a book that’s already on this list because again, I don’t cry all that often when reading. So, a book that made me cry is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Book that made you happy

It has a happy ending, what more can I say?

The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or recieved)

The artwork in this book is amazing, and I love the black Barnes and Noble exclusive edition dust jacket.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I keep telling myself I’ll get to these books at some point. I’m very scared that Loki: Where Mischief Lies is going to be a huge disappointment, especially because I love MCU Loki. A Little Life is over 800 pages, tell me that isn’t daunting. It is.

Favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?

I liked the movie a lot more than I did the book honestly. The Chaos Walking trilogy was very painful for me to get through (yes, I did read all three books, much to my own dismay, they’re real and I did read them)

We’ve reached the end of the mid-year book freak out tag! I’ve read 95 out of my 150 book goal, do you have a reading goal set? How many books have you read this year?
